Stamp Club challenge card #1 - take 2

So remember I said I wasn't all that thrilled with my first card on this challenge. Therefore, at the last minute (of course!) I decided to do another one. This one went pretty quickly and I was OK with it, but would have probably played with it some more if I'd had the time! LOL! Same basic idea here. Switched the orientation of the card to a horizontal layout, changed colors and all that. The d/p on the card base was run through the Cuttlebug with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. Used my Rose Red maker for the spots and to outline the giraffe. A couple of ribbons, some bling - and there you have it!

stamp club challenge card #1

This card was one of the challenge cards for my stamp club this month - we had to make an animal card. So, of course, I reached for Wild About You since I already had it on my stamping table while finishing up some extra stuff from my stamp camp a few weeks ago. This is such a cute set and really easy to work with. That said, I wasn't all that happy with the way my card turned out, so ended up making another one (which you will see on my next post...). I don't know why I wasn't quite satisfied with this one - if I could figure that out, I woulda changed it! LOL!

Anyway, the More Mustard c/s was run through my Cuttlebug using the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder (what did I ever do before my CB?!). Then I inked up the On Safari b/g stamp, laid the embossed piece down on it (raised bubbles to the stamp) and gently rubbed so that some of the ink transferred to the bubbles and gave it a bit of an animal skin look (at least I think so!). The "tabs" were done with the small oval punch and layered. I added square self-stick tiles since they looked just a little too plain to me. The giraffe was stamped in More Mustard, then I colored the spots and outlined the image with my Close to Cocoa marker.

Father's Day - part 2

Well, I do apologize! I meant to get this one posted Thursday and completely spaced it. Then last night I had my stamp club meeting, so was busy during the day getting stuff done for that. Oh yeah - and I did spend several hours on SCS reading all about the new catalog! LOL!!! I want my new catty NOW!!!! Patience is sooooo not in my personality! :)

Anyway - the rest of the story is that my sister and I are most certainly connected on some wavelength that we don't know about. Quite often one shows up at the other one's house to go somewhere and we are wearing the same color (both top and bottom!). It's a little scary! So the one who is still at their home has to go in and change clothes or we end up looking like some kind of wacky twins separated by 22 months, 4 inches in height and several pounds! Bwahahahaha! The night we were going to my folks to give Dad his stuff, I asked my sis on the phone what colors she used for his card. Wanna guess?! Well see for yourself...

Father's Day card

There is a funny story that goes along with this card, but you will have to wait until my next post to hear the whole of it. Just as a teaser, I will say that as far as my sister and I go - great minds think alike! Later... the rest of the story...

I made this card for my dad for Father's Day. I had used many of my masculine sets over the years for various cards for him, so I was trying make the card with something I hadn't used for him before. I was inspired by a card I saw on SplitcoastStampers (see that card here: ambouth). I changed a few things, but the color scheme and the basic layout are all her idea. My philosophy - why re-invent the wheel when you really like the wheel to start with?! The shape stamp behind the leaf image was done by stamping once, twice, then the third time without re-inking. Makes it look like three different colors but it is all Old Olive. The leaf was stamped using Chocolate Chip craft ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder. The main image is, of course, popped up on dimensionals. :)

It's a hot one today!

Currently 102 degrees and a great time to be indoors stamping. I'll be heading to my stamping table shortly!! But first another post from my last stamp camp. Some of you have seen the card and those of you that attended got to make it and the matching tin, so it's old stuff to you. :) But maybe a few who weren't here will see what we did and be all jealous! LOL!

I found the tins a M's on sale (got a gonga deal on them!). OK, so my sister actually was the one who found them and came to show me what she'd gotten, so we ran back over there so I could load up - thanks, Jonna! I'd had the idea in my head for the card and the tins went so perfectly that it was a no-brainer! Since there was a bit of a "circus" theme going on (at least there was to me) I decided the perfect thing to fill the tins with was animal crackers. You can also fit a gift card right down in there with the cookies. A fun card/gift for a kid or an adult with a great sense of humor.

The mane on the lion is done with More Mustard and the rest of the lion with So Saffron. The mane and the face are also cut out and popped up on dimensionals. One tip - be sure to color the eyes and nose with your black marker BEFORE cutting out the face. Makes it much easier! (Ask me how I know this!) The bird was colored with markers and although you can't tell much from the pic, I rolled the red square on the card (and circle on the tin) with the Rough Texture jumbo wheel.

I've moved!!

Ok - not physically, like moving houses or something! But I'm trying out a new blog "home" and so far, I'm liking it a lot. Better yet - it's FREE! Woohoo! So I'll see what happens for the next little bit and if I like this site as much as I think I will, I'll be cancelling the old one and trying to do a better job of posting here! LOL!

This card is one we made at my last stamp camp, so some of you will have already seen it cause you made it! :) I love designer paper cause it makes creating your card that much quicker and add a lot of interest without a lot of stamping. Great for a quick and easy card when you don't have lots of time to play.
